In 2015, while riding the emotional high of having just beat the last of the Batman Arkham games, I opened a Google Blogger page and titled it Charlie’s Honest Reviews. I didn't have a plan, only a vague desire to spew my opinion over the internet. So, I sat there for a few hours writing and deleting lines over and over again until it finally felt worthy of living online. With a hesitant finger, I clicked Publish.

 

I think six people read it.

Despite the small audience, I was hypnotized by the rush of hitting Publish. I wrote another review a few weeks later, and again a few weeks after that. Dozens of posts went up under the umbrella of Charlie’s Honest Reviews, and slowly my audience expanded. It didn’t take long to see that this was more than just a weekend hobby. I had an itch for writing reviews. 

 

I bid farewell to Blogger and Charlie's Honest Reviews in 2017 and rebuilt the website under a new name, Charlie's Cut. Since then, I've taken numerous film criticism courses and earned a Film Studies Certificate during my undergraduate at UMass Amherst. I then went on to earn my Masters in Creative Writing at Emerson College. And these experiences, along with some helpful and constructive feedback from readers, have allowed Charlie's Cut to continually improve. A huge thank you goes out to all of the OG readers who have stuck with me since the beginning, and if this is your first time here, welcome to the party.
